This is an advanced stage of alcohol abuse, when alcohol drinkers begin to experience a craving for alcohol. This is often shown by a loss of control of drinking, withdrawal symptoms when not drinking and an increased tolerance to alcohol. The latter usually means the person must drink more in order to reach the same level of intoxication.
